We believe that the countertop is the most important part of any kitchen. Thankfully there are so many different looks and trends emerging that can help make your countertop a true piece of practical art. Below we check out the functionality, performance and look of some of our favorite trends.

Dekton

Dekton is a new revolutionary product. It’s stronger and has a thinner profile to any other options on the market. You can choose from a number of cool colors, looks and textures to suit your space. Did you know that it could also stand the elements if you wanted to use it outside as well!

Granite

Granite is still super popular and as far as a natural product goes, nothing is in the same league. Granite is great because it’s super strong (did you know it’s one of the hardest substances in the world?), it’s easy to maintain, it’s durable and it looks amazing! No two granite countertops will be the same so you know you have a totally unique aspect of your kitchen. Granite also comes in many different colors and while its cousin marble is growing in popularity too – granite is stronger and doesn’t stain or perish as easily.

Glass

Glass counters are timeless, sleek and clean. If you wanted glass but also wanted to add a little excitement you could also back-paint the glass for a little splash of color. It’s also a handy option for a countertop if you were wanting to incorporate a beneath counter screen or iPad to use for cooking etc.

Silestone

Silestone is the best man-made quartz option that looks just like marble but comes without all the downsides of marble. You can choose a variety of colors and finishes to suit your kitchen design and theme too.

Color

Be bold and brave with a colorful countertop. If you are leaning towards choosing a solid colored countertop then our advice would be to look for one that has a slight speckle, shimmer or texture to help minimize the visibility of dust and watermarks.

Wood

Sometimes you just want the classic wood look. Wood is a great option especially if you’ve opted for an all-white or all-black kitchen. Unfortunately some wood counters may require more maintenance but the appeal of the wooden look may definitely be worth the upkeep.

Concrete

Concrete counters come in so many colors to choose from and they’re easily made into a shape or style of your fancy. You can even embed things such as glass or fossils into your countertop if that is what your heart desires.

Paperstone

Want something environmentally friendly and sustainable? A PaperStone countertop is for you. PaperStone is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper, phenolic resins and natural pigments. Totally eco-friendly!

Semi-precious stones

Semiprecious stone countertops are made from selected semi-precious stones like onyx, amethyst, agate and tiger’s eye and are bound with resin to create a very visually appealing solid surface.

Having so many options for countertops these days might make the decision process for designing a new home even harder but at least you can make your house truly yours and create something that truly pleases your eye and tickles your designer fancy.
